TITANIUM: Tools for the Investigation of Transactions in Underground Markets

TITANIUM Field Labs started

Vienna (19 February 2019)

During the coming months specialists will test forensics tools and services developed in TITANIUM in dedicated Field Labs. TITANIUM tools will support national law enforcement agencies in identifying criminal trade flows through cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Zcash or Monero. The goal of the Field Labs is to assess effectiveness, ethical and legal compliance, and overall impact of the results generated by the tools.

The ultimate goal by TITANIUM’s security experts is to detect court-proof evidence with the tested tools. A major focus lies on assuring that the TITANIUM tools adhere to legal and ethical requirements. Already during their earliest conception phase the TITANIUM tools were designed to conform with national data protection regulations.

In context of the recent Field Labs Kick-Off event, which took place on January 24th in four European countries, the TITANIUM consortium released a press release (in German). This press release was already picked up by a number of national newspapers and blogs in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. Another press release (in German) was published by AIT on February 18th.
